In Etti IV space, Lt. Commander Dauthus commands a frigate carrying "diplomats" of whose true identities he is unaware, but suspicious (they are, in fact, NRI agents); later, his frigate also carries as passenger the Governor of Coruscant, Sinclair Morgan. The ship is attacked by the Imperial and CSA fleets and destroyed, but after completing its mission; Dauthus, Morgan, and most of the crew manage to escape to a nearby NR cruiser. Many of the Intel agents are captured on Etti IV and presumed missing in action, among them Acting Intel Director Fianna Starfire. Dauthus is promoted to Commander and 1st officer on MCSC Deliverance shortly thereafter.
Solo escapes from Imperial captivity with the help of Imperial stormtrooper medic Amylynn; Solo and Amylynn rendezvous on Palanhi with Luke, Leia, Winter, Lando, Jessalyn, Shenner, Paul Nighman, Tacra, and Tand; Luke and Leia duel with Sabbath; Sabbath captures Jessalyn, and Luke attempts to rescue her, but his artifical hand is cut off in the process. Solo unexpectedly disappears again while on Palanhi, and Luke, Leia, and the others retreat to Calamari; Amylynn's father, an Imperial officer, defects to the NR and joins her on that same world. |

On Calamari, Leia collapses from exhaustion and strain.
Much to her amazement, Luke reveals to Jessalyn that he has sensed the Force within her and his desire to train her as a Jedi. Solo is held in captivity by Grathix and the V'ez-tcha on Tatooine; Lando and Winter orchestrate a rescue attempt and strike a bargain with Grathix to get Solo free. Luke attempts to become involved in Shenner and Paul Nighman's impending trip to Mandalore in search of a Force artifact, but while on Tatooine with them, he abruptly senses through the Force that Jessalyn is in danger on Yavin and rushes to her aid. Returning to Calamari, Solo is determined to not be himself, suffering from nightmares and exhaustion, especially when Ackbar brings him the news that Chewbacca is missing and presumed dead. |

Intending to seek out an old contact of his in Mos Eisley for leads on who among the galaxy's underworld might be persuaded to assist the NR, Han joins an undercover mission headed to Tatooine to look for two missing NR vessels.

In the Fountain Square of Caspar's Plaxton City, Leia is attacked and nearly killed by Valak, and then nearly carried off by Detjin.
NR High Command promotes Captain Dauthus Snunb to Commodore in the absence of any high-ranking FleetOps officers. |

Having eluded Valak's control and with her relationship with Talon Karrde in shambles, Ariana Millikin asks for and receives some quiet help from Han in rejoining NR personnel on Home One.
NR forces arrive in the Pride-1 system and retake the station for the Griffons, after the Imperial fleet unexpectedly surrenders; some resistance is met on the station itself, but not enough to prevent an NR victory. |

In Pride-1 space, Han receives an anonymous transmission of news reports that Leia was attacked and killed on Caspar; he hurries to Caspar to discover what's happened, and finds out from Leia that she was attacked and her lightsaber stolen, but the identity of her assailant is unknown.
Lando, arriving on Caspar at about the same time as Han, takes a different approach to getting information: he holds President Avy Laarken and her husband at gunpoint. Later, though, his impulsive act is kindly overlooked and Laarken bestows upon him a capital ship which he christens the Commander of Coins. |
